Mud-masking has been used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes in many cultures since ancient times. Nowadays, Natural Clay Powder Face Masks are used as one of the most effective treatments for absorbing impurities, cleaning out clogged pores and preventing the formation of blackheads and spots.
Each clay is combined with botanicals to boost nutrient levels and support healthy skin:
🌸 Pink kaolin clay is ideal for those with sensitive skin that need a bit of oil-vacuuming and gentle exfoliation. With Organic Colloidal Oatmeal (moisturising to the skin), Beetroot (regenerative) and Rose petal powder (soothing).
🌼 White kaolin clay is the gentlest and great for sensitive dry skin. It doesn’t absorb so much as it does soften with super gentle bits for mild exfoliation. Also with Colloidal Oatmeal (moisturising to the skin), Vegan Coconut milk (cleanses pores while nourishing your complexion) and Calendula (a superstar herb) powders to soothe skin reddened due a weak dilation or imperfection of capillary veins.
🌻 Yellow kaolin clay is slightly more absorbent and exfoliating but still remains gentle. Recommended for combination or problem skin, to prevent the formation of spots. With Diatomaceous Earth (fossilized algae which helps to remove dead skin cells polluted by toxins) and Organic Turmeric powder (prevent the formation of blackheads).
🌿 French green clay is your go-to for exfoliation and pore-tightening on top of oil-absorption. Not only does it drink up oils, it also pulls blood towards the surface of your skin, giving you a bit of a tingling sensation as it boosts circulation. Also with Matcha Green Tea and Organic Kelp powders (rich in antioxidants and enzymes to help clean out clogged pores).
🌱 Brown Clay - Fuller's Earth is a great oil-absorber. This is recommended for people with oily skin since it can be quite drying - but it would also be fine for normal skin if used no more than once a week. With Diatomaceous Earth (fossilized algae which helps to remove dead skin cells polluted by toxins) and Vitamin B3 powder (to even out skin tone) to keep skin smooth and more elastic.
Directions for use: mix up 1-2 teaspoons with your medium of choice (water, yogurt, for added probiotics, or honey, for added moisture). Apply to face avoiding eye area. Relax for 5-10 minutes then wash off for smooth, radiant skin.
Small aluminium pots are enough for 2-3 masks (10-20g - some clays weigh more).
